2018 EDAA Satisfaction Survey

2018 EDAA Satisfaction Survey

This survey is administered by the EDAA, exclusively to companies who are participating in the European Self-Regulatory Programme on OBA.

As from 25th May 2018, the EU’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) will be enforced. The Regulation introduces new user rights and new obligations on data controllers, as well as expanding some of the obligations that were already operative under the 1995 Data Protection Directive. It will apply uniformly across the EU, without needing to be implemented in national law.

The Regulation has extraterritorial scope, applying to data controllers whose online services target users who are physically located in the EU, or who are profiling users located in the EU.

It introduces administrative fines of up to 4% of annual global turnover for breaches of any of its provisions. The Article 29 Working Party of national Data Protection Authorities, which has until now had an advisory (though influential) role only, will become a “European Data Protection Board” with the power to take binding decisions that can be appealed only to a national or EU court.

The European Self-Regulatory Programme on OBA is a self-regulatory initiative that helps companies deliver transparency and control over OBA to users, with centralised opt-out functionality, and contextual notice through the AdChoices icon.

The Regulation introduces major changes to the legal landscape and companies are having to make significant investments to comply with the new rules. In such context, it seems appropriate to ask your views on the Programme, its functionality and cost, and on other tools the EDAA could provide you with.

This reflection needs to be informed by your views. The survey that follows is intended to test satisfaction with the current programme, but also to solicit views and suggestions for the programme’s further development.

We estimate the survey should take you about 10 minutes to complete. All responses to the survey will be kept anonymous and will be used to assess and improve our offering and value to participating companies.
