CEO, IAB Europe
Townsend Feehan is CEO of IAB Europe. Prior to joining IAB Europe, Townsend worked for Microsoft Legal & Corporate Affairs in Brussels and ran EU industry associations in the ICT, consumer electronics and biotechnology sectors. She previously represented Microsoft on IAB Europe’s Board. Townsend has an M. Phil. in European policy from the University of Edinburgh.
Director General, EDAA
Dr. Oliver Gray has been appointed as the Director-General of the EDAA and has a strong professional background in effective advertising self-regulation, acting also as Director-General of the European Advertising Standards Alliance (EASA) since 1993. Through this role, Oliver Gray has spearheaded the growth, value and credibility of advertising self-regulation for close to 20 years and his expertise will be invaluable to the ongoing success of the EDAA, bringing effective self-regulation to modern, evolving and increasingly innovative technologies and advertising practice.Beyond this, Oliver Gray co-chairs the Code Revision Taskforce of the International Chamber of Commerce. In this role he helps devise and coordinate the consolidation of the ICC’s codes in the area of marketing and advertising into a simplified but extended code to marketing communications. This Code has recently been adapted to include specific provisions on Online Behavioural Advertising (Chapter D) which reflect the principles laid out in the EASA Best Practice Recommendation on OBA.
Oliver Gray graduated with a BSc and a PhD from Bath University.
Technical & Project Manager, EDAA
Ionel Naftanaila has joined the EDAA as the Project and Technical Manager and brings with him a wealth of industry knowledge and experience. Ionel also has a strong training and teaching experience combined with technical expertise.
As Training and Project Manager at the Interactive Advertising Bureau Europe, Ionel has been driving efforts to establish the EDAA and increase industry awareness of the European self-regulatory programme and principles for OBA.
Before joining the EDAA, he managed a company that developed and maintained AdServers and AdExchanges with OBA in Southeastern Europe.
Previously, Ionel worked in the online industry, managing a company developing web applications and sites. Ionel also has a strong academic background and teaches management with key focus on IT and project management at the Bucharest University of Economic Studies.
He holds a PhD, studying at HEC Montreal, Canada and at the Bucharest University of Economic Studies.
Complaints Executive, Advertising Standards Authority UK
Ed joined the Advertising Standards Authority in early 2013. He brought the legal and regulatory knowledge developed whilst studying Law at The University of Edinburgh and has honed his analytical skills assessing complaints from members of the public and the advertising industry whilst at the ASA. Ed has a detailed knowledge of online behavioural advertising, as well as the guidelines surrounding the advertising of both gambling and telecommunications.

Andy has extensive experience in both traditional and online publishing, joining VNU Business Publications in 1984, launching their first recruitment website and publishing Management Consultancy and Financial Director Magazines.
In 1997 he worked for Learned Information and helped launch the Internet World exhibition in the UK.In 1999 he joined ABC as Head of Client Services and Audit Delivery and in 2011 became Group Head, Client Services for the newly merged ABC.
Andy has been at the forefront of raising digital industry standards, having a leading role in facilitating industry groups and chairing the ITG (Internet Technical Group), which makes recommendations to JICWEBS (the Joint Industry Committee where industry standards for digital media are set). He is a recognised media spokesperson for the online industry.
20 years experience in the media industry, CFO and COO at Bertelsmann and AOL, CFO / COO at wunderloop, member of several working groups on data protection issues (IAB EU, BVDW), number of publications on online behavioral targeting, privacy and data protection, accredited evaluator at ULD, certified auditor ISO27001 / data security.
Director of Product Policy, TRUSTe
Joanne Furtsch is a leading expert in global online privacy practices spanning website, advertising, mobile and application privacy with deep specialization in COPPA and European Union Safe Harbor compliance. Joanne is currently Director of Product Policy at TRUSTe the leading online privacy certification authority. Joanne joined TRUSTe in 1999, and oversaw many operational, policy and product functions, and is responsible for TRUSTe’s program requirements that define the basis of the certification products and operations.
She graduated with a B.A. in Finance from California State University, Fullerton, and holds both CIPP and CIPP/C certifications.
Senior Vice President, Auditing, BPA Worldwide
Richard Murphy is Senior Vice President, Auditing. Richard leads BPA’s Technology Assurance division, specializing in Technology Auditing, Data Security and Privacy, Governance, Risk and Compliance. In addition, he manages BPA’s global operations, including the company’s U.S., Canada, EMEA, and China/Asia Pacific divisions. Richard’s responsibilities include overall management of 2,000 customer accounts and a team of over 100 professionals and support staff. He is a licensed Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and a Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA).
